View the Vision For Henderson |
The presentation that follows is from the first Visioning Charrette over 5 days spent in Henderson by undergraduate students. They proposed a cohesive waterfront from Atkinson Park to Hancock Street.
Key points within their new waterfront are: Hayes Boat Ramp, Big Rivers Power Plant, Dixon Street and Main Street, and the old warehouse at Hancock Street. This is to complement existing plans for the waterfront.
Additionaly, the students address economic and cultural possibilities, for example: tourism, agribusiness, entertainment, and living.
Some of these concepts, such as the piece on algae was immediately embraced and resulted in an Energy Conference here in Henderson which attacted hundreds. This goes to show that while not all of these ideas are viable, there are some nuggets to be drawn upon. We hope you will take time to view these initial ideas and concepts. We look forward to engaging with you on The Henderson Project as we go deeper into planning our future over the next three years beginning in 2009.
