What Does Henderson Want To Be?
By Tim Skinner

I suppose it is not so unusual for a person to have a special place in his or her heart for their hometown. After all, many of us have returned to begin our careers, start and raise our families and pursue an anticipated quality of life. There has to have been some inherent attraction that has brought us back.

All too often however we see and experience things that seem unimaginable and unachievable for Henderson. But if we can look at this place many of us call home with a different eye, a different mindset, it becomes clearly apparent, that we as a city, as a home place, as a part of this world can be what we want to be.

So what does Henderson want to be?

That is the reason for my involvement in this project. Let’s have a discussion. Let’s explore. Let’s listen. Let’s do.

The initial concepts presented by the architectural students are just a first phase of this process. Their ideas are inspiring and thought provoking. They have helped to show us what others see in Henderson.

Ideas breed ideas. The only bad ideas are those left unspoken.

That is the purpose of this endeavor. To explore what Henderson can be, needs to be, will be.

This is a discussion for everyone.

Ideas are cherished.

Comments are welcomed.

Involvement is essential.
